this will release the forks... done it with my mates bike before because he had a bent steerer tube and the whole thing was locked in... so yerh jus be carefuk tho

dude... bout the headset thing. turn the bike upside down and carefully prize the whole top part of the headset off with a rubber mallet... to do this youl need a bit of wood really and go fairly light all the way round the headset... not just big wallops in one place coz you will wreck your steerer and obv douse it with some wd40 first to makt it all that much easier... only do this if you really cant get that compression ring out

ou should complain to 24seven, if thats what your bike is about a shoddy built bike if no one else has touched your headset. Its a bit disgraceful if they've overtightened your bike. Maybe you could put it in for a full service to say you're getting it checked over by a professional incase hteyve made more mistake and charge them haha. Was the fork a christmas present ?

make sure you dont bust the compression ring through all of this fork trouble, you'll end up needed to get a new one and for one to specifically fit your headset could be tricky.
